Trucking jobs did not do so well when it came to physical and emotional environment factors — which included things like the amount of stamina required for the job and the degree of hazards personally faced — they had some other good things going for them.

The starting salary for a driver was pegged at $24,000, while mid-level and top level salaries were $37,000 and $56,000 respectively. These wages are higher compared to those earned by other workers such as travel agents, emergency medical technicians, computer service technicians, etc.

The list also says that the hiring outlook for truck driving jobs is good. This falls in line with both industry and government forecasts, which state that the demand for truck drivers in the United States will increase in the decade between 2008 and 2018. Keep in mind, though, that while jobs are plentiful, during times of recession you can expect to encounter some problems maintaining steady work. Also, if you are a truck owner-operator, you would probably find your expenses increasing and your profits declining during periods of economic slowdown.
